Our home institution is Eisenhower Health, which is a quickly growing, busy, and highly rated community hospital in Rancho Mirage, California. One of the unique features of the program is the balance between a community hospital emergency department along with rotations at academic partner institutions offering specialized training and clinical opportunities. Residents are given guidance and advice to develop their careers, achieve scholarship, and assure competencies needed for the next steps in their careers. The goal of our program is to assist residents in developing the skills necessary to become outstanding emergency physicians capable of managing diverse patients with a broad range of emergent needs. Our program is designed to provide broad-based clinical training with an emphasis on preparation for clinical emergency medicine practice. The Eisenhower Emergency Medicine Residency Program is a three year program covering all of the aspects inherent to training in Emergency Medicine. Eisenhower EM residents spend the majority of their time at Eisenhower Health, but will also rotate at Desert Regional Medical Center, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, and California Hospital. Services available at our facility include a comprehensive stroke center, STEMI center (with 24 hour cath-lab availability), 24-hour operating room availability and call schedule coverage for a broad range of specialty consultants. Fellowships under consideration are: Cardiology, GI and Infectious Disease. Other residency programs in planning include: Psychiatry, Neurology and General Surgery. The residency program is designed to assist residents in developing competencies necessary to become outstanding clinicians, capable of managing diverse patient populations, and to become leaders of and advocates for their communities.Įisenhower Health currently has residency programs in Internal Medicine and Family Medicine, as well as fellowships in Sports Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, Addiction Medicine and Geriatrics.
The mission of the Eisenhower Health Emergency Medicine Residency Program is to provide our residents with a broad-based learning program in an environment of inquiry to prepare them for independent practice in the specialty. Our EM program has had great success in recruiting a fantastic group of educators to join our team. Our EM program received initial accreditation in September 2018. Since then our hospital has continued to grow as an academic center, adding multiple fellowships, and additional medical student and outside resident rotations. While previously a traditional community hospital, Eisenhower became a teaching hospital with our first classes of Internal Medicine and Family Medicine residents starting in 2012.
